Valley Glen is a community in the southeastern portion of Van Nuys, a San Fernando Valley district of the City of Los Angeles, California. It is home to Los Angeles Valley College, Grant High School, and The Great Wall of Los Angeles, a half mile-long mural painted on one of the concrete sides of the Tujunga Wash portraying the history of California from the perspective of women and people of color. Until recently, the area was simply considered a part of North Hollywood.
Valley Glen was born in 1997. Marc Thurston, the first elected president of the association, led the effort to finalize the bylaws, decide upon the boundaries and, most importantly, to seek community approval of a new name for the area.
